The mission of the Naval Academy, established in 1845, is to develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically to become professional leaders in the naval service. The Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center provides interesting and informative guided walking tours of the Naval Academy.  Guides include details on events, history and traditions of this unique institution as well as midshipmen life.  Tours for pre-formed groups are available year around, Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday from noon to 3:00 pm.  The Center is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

The Visitor Center, which overlooks Annapolis Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay, also features an Information Center,
free 13-minutes film, "The Call to Serve," and exhibits on Graduates in Space, John Paul Jones, who is buried beneath the Naval Academy Main Chapel and an original Dahlgren boat howitzer. The Naval Academy Gift Shop offers the finest selection of TAX FREE clothing, hats, gifts and souvenirs.

Proceeds from the sale of tours and merchandise support Brigade of Midshipmen activities.
