Founded in 1997 the museum is located in the former New York Central Freight Depot which was built between 1905-06. It is the longest wood freight house ever built by NYC Systems and measures 300 feet long.

There are over 7,000 artifacts on display covering the history of railroads from the early steam era up to the modern age.

Exhibits feature vintage toy trains from Lionel, Marx and American Flyer.

There are also planes, boats, vintage toys and a firefighting exhibit with over 460 old fire helmets.

Our model train layout is one of the longest in the United States measuring 204 feet long by 14 feet wide and is located in the center of the exhibit hall.

We offer train excursions also. These are not available every day, so please visit our website under the events tab for available dates and departure times. Group rates available for over 15 people is available for The Easter Express, Fall Foliage, Blues and Booze and Halloween trains only. Please call 585-798-6106 for more info and booking.

Some excursions we offer are The Easter Express, The Day Out with Thomas, Fall Foliage, Blues and Booze, Halloween Themed and The Polar Express.

We are open year-round Tuesday-Sunday 11am-5pm. We are closed on Mondays and major holidays.

Museum rates are: Adults $8 Seniors $7 Children $6 under 2yrs free

We offer a yearly membership for train lovers. This includes admission into the museum for 1 year and $1 off admission for ever guest you bring with you. Individual memberships $20, Family Membership (up to 5 people) $50
