Flat Rock Playhouse

Bus tour groups will enjoy Broadway-quality entertainment at Flat Rock Playhouse, officially designated as “The State Theatre of North Carolina.” Originally begun in 1937 by a group of actors performing summer stock, Flat Rock Playhouse has evolved into a professional, nonprofit company with an eight-month season.
Located just 30 minutes south of Asheville, North Carolina, the company presents popular musicals, comedies and dramas at two theaters. The original 500-seat Mainstage Theatre in Flat Rock has been in operation for 65 years, and the more intimate, 250-seat Playhouse Downtown, three miles away in Hendersonville, opened in 2011. Each offers a variety of programming, including a family series and the “Music on the Rock” series held at Playhouse Downtown. Shows typically run two hours, with a 15-minute intermission. Light concessions are available at both locations, and both venues are group friendly with single-level entry and easy-access restrooms.
Flat Rock Playhouse welcomes group tours and provides exceptional service and flexibility. Group rates are offered for 10 or more people, with one complimentary ticket per 20 purchased. Deposits are required, with a final payment and head count due three weeks prior to the arrival date. At the Mainstage Playhouse, 2661 Greenville Highway, Flat Rock, North Carolina, on-site bus parking is available with assistance from parking attendants. At Playhouse Downtown, 125 S. Main Street, Hendersonville, drivers are directed to bus parking spaces at the Visitors Center, one block south of the theater, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Groups may be dropped off and picked up in front of the theater.
Reservations are required for groups, to ensure the best available seating and ease of planning. In addition to reservations, Flat Rock Playhouse staff offers group planning assistance, with information and contacts for area attractions, group-friendly restaurants and step-on guides. Flat Rock staff can also provide sample itineraries ranging from one to four days, with listings that include locally owned restaurants offering group-inclusive menus for the best pricing and service, both before and after the show.
