Sioux Falls has debuted new state-of-the-art entertainment facilities and hundreds of new hotel rooms over the last few years. The new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center seats 12,000 and has hosted major country acts, rock stars like Paul McCartney, and nationally known dance and comedic performers.
Falls Park is still the must-see attraction in Sioux Falls. The 123-acre park features a triple waterfall, visitor’s information center and five-story observation tower, Overlook café and historic ruins all located on the banks of the Big Sioux River. It is visited by people from around the world.
The Washington Pavilion was one of the first sites in America to offer performing arts, visual arts, interactive science and educational opportunities under one roof. It houses the Kirby Science Center, Wells Fargo CineDome, Visual Arts Center and Mary W. Sommervold Hall. Between Falls and the Pavilion, journey through SculptureWalk, an exciting exhibit of 55 sculptures created by artists from around the world in an outdoor art exhibit.
There are a number of other attractions to visit, from The Outdoor Campus and Butterfly House to 1,000 animals at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum to Pettigrew Home and Old Courthouse Museums to the grand Cathedral of Saint Joseph.
Sioux Falls is also brimming with local wine and craft brewery options, along with a thriving culinary scene. There are over 700 restaurants throughout the city that feature everything from ethnic, farm-to-table, patisserie treats, favorite Midwestern staples and so much more.
Heading out of Sioux Falls to your next destination do not forget to plan a stop at South Dakota's newest state park, Good Earth at Blood Run. It is a national historic landmark that has recently made big strides to complete its interactive visitor center. The river, abundant wildlife and fertile floodplains made the area a crossroads of Native American civilization from 1300-1700 AD and possibly even longer.
