The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk

 Connecticut

Aquatic life has never been as accessible as it is at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, Connecticut.  To allow everyone a chance to explore complex aquatic ecosystems, The Maritime Aquarium brings the mysteries of the deep up to guests through 75 live exhibits.  In these exhibits, groups can survey more than 2,700 animals from 300 different species.  With the use of these living exhibits, the aquarium highlights the life and wonderment in marine science and environmental education.

The Maritime Aquarium allows for a unique exploration of life within the local ecosystem, the Long Island Sound, and beyond. Groups learn of freshwater rivers, alive with Striped Bass and North American River Otters; brackish marshlands and the connections water makes between biomes like the dessert and the rainforest.

Whimsical installations of jellyfish wow guests by showcasing the intrinsic beauty in each species in half dome and large tube-shape habitats.

In the Our Ocean Beyond the Sound exhibit, there is an 110,000-gallon habitat that allows visitors an up-close view of sharks and other large fish as the animals ease through the reflected ripples of the water. On most Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, guests can interact with a diving team as it swims with the sharks.

With these educational opportunities and more, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is a must-see.  For more information, phone (203) 852-0700 or visit maritimeaquarium.org.
