Long Business Description:

Welcome to the Rockhill Trolley Museum in the Raystown Lake Region of PA!  Hear the “ding, ding” sound of the trolley bells and the “clickety-clack” of the trolleys running down the track?  Don’t you wish you could ride a real, old fashioned electric trolley or streetcar?  You can, when you visit our “Living History Museum” where you will see and hear the volunteers operating trolleys, working on restoration and maintenance projects and telling you history and stories about the trolleys and electric railways of the past.  Some of you may have trolley or streetcar stories to share!

The Rockhill Trolley Museum is the first operating trolley museum in Pennsylvania!  It started with 1 trolley, in 1960, the year the last North American rural city shut down their electric rail system.  We now have 23 antique electric rail vehicles with manufacture dates ranging from 1895 to 1982.  About a dozen operate under their own power and about half a dozen are one-of-a-kinds.  Sizes range from our largest world famous 4-part articulated high speed Electroliner, also known as the Liberty Liner, built in 1941 to our smallest wooden single pole, single truck Toonerville style Brill Oporto Car 172, built in 1929.  Some are merely piles of parts waiting to be restored and others are completely restored!  See the 1909 Kuhlman wooden, highspeed interurban Chicago, Aurora & Elgin 315 with stained glass windows, polished mahogany and real gold leaf being restored or the 1931 high speed interurban Brill Bullet Car 205!

Rockhill Trolley Museum is open for the regular season from May through October and for Special and Holiday events throughout the year.  Two trolleys can accommodate wheelchairs.

Come and take a relaxing, fun, 3 mile round trip trolley adventure on the old Shade Gap Branch of the East Broad Top Railroad.  You’ll travel through the yards into beautiful countryside and occasional wildlife along the Blacklog Creek, past the old Rockhill Iron Furnace ruins, past a closed hidden iron mine and to the Blacklog Narrows … on a beautifully restored antique electric trolley.  Come to the Little Museum Store and the Picnic Pavilion.  Tour the trolley carbarns.  Individuals and groups of all ages are welcome!

Visit on line at www.RockhillTrolley.org or call 814-447-9576 for information and upcoming events!  Ask about the exciting, hands-on “Run-A-Trolley” program … where you take the controls and operate the trolley!

“All aboard!  Ding, ding!  Ride a Rockhill Trolley!”
