Anderson-Madison County
Business Name: Anderson-Madison County
Long Business Description:

From north to south and east to west, Madison County Indiana is unique in its varied offerings, easy to navigate, and warm and welcoming no matter the season. Within its borders is not only one town, the county seat of Anderson, you will find to the north Elwood and Alexandria, to the south, Pendleton, to the west, Lapel and Frankton and east the little berg of Chesterfield. Each community has its own flavor and claims to fame.

Pendleton, situated on the banks of Fall Creek is picturesque and a perfect place to begin a visit. Your appetite will be whetted as you sample from the many cafes and restaurants. Peruse the shops on State Street for their eclectic offerings. Visit Falls Park and cool your feet in the shallows of the creek or take a relaxing walk along the banks and around the lake.

Leaving Pendleton and traveling on West 53rd Street in Anderson brings you to our newest attraction, Uranus Fudge Factory. Brand new, this place is full of fun and some of the best fudge and confections on the planet.

History abounds in Downtown Anderson. Revisit the Gas Boom and the development of Andersontown from a Native American village to a vibrant hub for the automotive industry. The Madison County Historical Society recounts those stories. The Paramount Theatre and Ballroom, built in 1929 as an Eberson “atmospheric theatre” holds its magic for all who enter and the Anderson Museum of Art displays art pieces in the splendor of the century old Carnegie Building.

Mounds State Park, with the White River winding through, hearkens us to the time of the Adena-Hopewell people whose Great Mound is the hallmark of this beautiful park. The Bronnenberg Home on the park property still stands as when the Bronnenbergs began settling the county.

Finally, no trip to Madison County is complete without a stop at Harrah’s Hoosier Park where you will enjoy standardbred racing at its finest and a casino for your wagering enjoyment

A trip north on Indiana 9 takes you through Alexandria and on to Elwood whose heritage in the form of glassmaking still is prevalent today. Carol’s Legacy Crystal has craftsmen creating amazing pieces of glass art. One of the best Indiana mainstays, the breaded tenderloin, is found at The Tin Plate, and Callaway Park is a gem you will not want to miss.
