Anderson and Madison County is very fortunate to have a strong and thriving arts community. The Anderson Museum of Art, led by Executive Director Mandee Mikulski, is committed to bringing art to the masses.

For those that believe museums only offer quiet, unpretentious programming, the Anderson Museum of Art has broken that mold. New and innovative events, meant to accumulate funds for their capital campaign are being presented often. The goal of the campaign is to offer new education programs for persons of all abilities, to renovate the collections areas, and make external repairs to the historic Carnegie Building, built in 1905.

Mystery at the Museum will be held on Fridays and Saturdays in February, along with a special installment on Valentine’s Day. A combination of the classic game, Clue, coupled with an Escape Room scenario gives the participants a mystery to be solved while attempting to free themselves from the confines of the museum and, all in a limited amount of time, of course.

Join in on First Fridays every month; view the exhibits, shop in the museum shop, and peruse the offerings of vendors from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Visit the museum from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Admission is $3.00, no charge for students, and free for all on Wednesdays. A year has not even passed since the Uranus Fudge Factory opened its doors to the Anderson community and beyond. The many challenges of 2021 and 2022 has had an impact on the timeliness of the new additions planned, but, always willing to rise to the challenges, Mayor Louie and his crew keep moving forward and 2023 looks to be a very exciting year!

Number one in the minds of ice cream lovers everywhere is the brand-new Uranus Ice Cream Factory. This place will be a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. Hand-painted murals, an antique bar, their ever-eclectic décor, and great staff serving the world’s best ice cream will welcome visitors for the opening scheduled for April 1. For the delight of all the young kids, a fabulous playground will be installed. The whole family will enjoy the new Pirate Putt-Putt Miniature Golf Course that is in the planning stages. The 53rd Street complex will also continue expanding their much-needed parking, affording more room for cars and busses.
