Choose an historical escape in America's Hometown of Plymouth and visit Plimoth Patuxet Museums where the story of New England's first European settlers comes to life in the recreated English Village, at the Patuxet Homesite and aboard the reproduction Mayflower II.  Plan a stop at Pilgrim Hall Museum, America’s oldest public museum, for a glimpse of items that came over with the Pilgrims on their 1620 voyage to the New World. Take a whale watch or harbor cruise and stroll the Pilgrim Paths to encounter unanticipated treats and treasures.

Perhaps the South Shore is more to your taste. These typical New England towns with church steeples and town greens will make your getaway a comfortable, relaxing experience especially when you find the perfect lodging and amble through the streets where unique non-chain shops offer some of the best gifts and memorabilia. The Metrosouth region of the County has one of the finest craft museums in the country, the Fuller Craft Museum. While in Brockton, head downtown to see the incredible Civil War era architecture of  City Hall.

A one-of-a kind experience awaits in the fall in Cranberry Country where area farms in these small country towns provide visitors with a view of the colorful harvesting of this truly American berry. Stop in at The A. D. Makepeace Company in Wareham to grab a bite at their Market while learning and experiencing a harvest. Families especially will enjoy Edaville Family Theme Park in Carver and their Christmas Festival of Lights in December.
