Floyd County Historical Museum
Business Name: Floyd County Historical Museum
Long Business Description:

The Floyd County Museum is the perfect stop for travelers interested in history and agriculture. Visitors can enjoy learning about the beginnings of tractor technology, perusing the counters of an authentically preserved turn-of-the-century drugstore, and stepping back in time through the door of an original 1850s log cabin. The Floyd County Museum has something for everyone. Tour groups interested in antique tractors will love the tractor room dedicated to preserving the history of Hart-Parr, Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline, Cockshutt, and White tractors. Groups wanting to remember life as it was in the early 20th century will love the period rooms, historic business district display, complete drugstore, and many of the rotating exhibits to be seen throughout the year. The museum is located in the historic 1930s Salsbury Laboratory building that was once the workspace of Dr. Joseph Salsbury, a pioneer in animal vaccines and medicine. On the second floor can be found preserved laboratory space once used by Salsbury employees. Pioneer history, tractor history, and agricultural history come together for a truly unique museum experience at the Floyd County Museum.

The Floyd County Museum is totally wheel chair accessible and seating is available throughout the museum for guests who may want to take breaks while they explore our three story building. Tour groups are asked to call or email the museum at least 2 weeks in advance to notify museum staff of their visit and request a guided tour, if desired. The Floyd County Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm all year round. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Children under 6 get in free. The museum has a large community room available that guests are welcome to reserve as part of their visit. The community room can seat 50 people. Guests can expect to spend around an hour or longer at the museum, dependent on how much they want to see. There are over 300,000 objects in the Floyd County Museum’s collection so there is always plenty to see and learn about when visiting.
