Step back in time more than 120 years when you walk through the doors of this lovely Queen Anne home and find yourself surrounded by furnishings and decor from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  Located only minutes from downtown Norman and less than half an hour from Oklahoma City, the Moore-Lindsay Historical House Museum in Norman, Oklahoma is a fascinating addition to any tour itinerary!

The Moore-Lindsay House is a Victorian-style home built in 1899 which now serves as a museum dedicated to depicting life in Cleveland County, Oklahoma at the turn of the twentieth century.  In 1899 Missouri real estate developer William Moore built a new home in Norman, Oklahoma Territory. In 1908 he sold the home to his relatives, Harry and Daisy Lindsay, who owned the home for approximately 50 years. Both the Moores and the Lindsays represent the entrepreneurship of those who seized the opportunities available in this new town on the prairie, and the Moore-Lindsay House showcases the splendor of the late Victorian Era in small-town America. The house stands as proof of the financial success of those who invested in agricultural commodities, business, and the banking industry in early twentieth century Norman. The museum is fully furnished with period artifacts from the archives of the Cleveland County Historical Society, many of which were donated to the society by the citizens of Norman and Cleveland County.

The museum is open Wednesday-Saturday with guided tours at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.  Visitors are also welcome to conduct self-guided tours anytime during our regular operating hours.  Group tours can be scheduled at alternative times, including evenings or Sunday-Tuesday, with advanced approval from museum staff.  Museum admission is $5 per person and free for children 12 and under.  Group discounts are available with advanced arrangements.  Due to limited staff, it is highly recommended that group tours be scheduled in advance, and visitors should check the website at https://www.normanmuseum.org/#currenthours for the current day’s hours.
