Museum of the American G.I.
Business Name: Museum of the American G.I.
Long Business Description:

College Station, Texas

The Museum of the American G.I. has an incredible display of historic U.S.
military vehicles, uniforms, small arms, WWI/WWII propaganda posters, and
memorabilia. The Museum's impressive collection of artifacts reflects its
dedication to preserving American military history for future generations.
Located in College Station, Texas, the home of Texas A&M University and the
George Bush Presidential Library Museum, the Museum of the American G.I.
is a perfect stop for families, students, and adult groups.

The Museum of the American G.I. has one of the finest collections in the U.S.
of restored, running WWI, WWII, and later-era military vehicles, including
WWII Sherman tanks, M18 Hellcats, and a Vietnam-era Patrol Boat. The
Museum is also home to several extremely rare vehicles: a WWII M8 Howitzer
Motor Gun Carriage, a WWII M3 Gun Motor Carriage, a Vietnam-era Ontos,
and a WWI French Renault tank.

The Museum of the American G.I. is unique in its ability to exhibit vehicles
and weapons in action. The Museum hosts "History in Motion" in the fall and
"Living History Weekend" in the spring, during which the public can
experience the rumble of tanks and whine of engines and observe everything
from small arms fire to the blasts of tanks and artillery cannons.
The Museum is honored to be the home of the Texas Vietnam Heroes Exhibit,
featuring 3,417 personalized dog tags honoring Texans killed or missing in the
Vietnam War. It is a centerpiece of our ongoing exhibits, highlighting that no
one is forgotten or left behind.

While the Museum of the American G.I. has a premier collection of tanks and
military vehicles, the Museum also has an impressive collection of rare and
significant military uniforms, propaganda posters, and memorabilia. Included
in the Museum's displays is an original door from the Hỏa Lò or Hanoi Hilton
Prison, which housed American POWs during the Vietnam War, and artifacts
from the 1983 bombings of the U.S. Embassy and Marine Barracks in Beirut,
Lebanon.

The Museum is honored to pay tribute to many heroes, honoring their contributions to the American military legacy. We share the stories of James E Rudder, the hero of Pointe du Hoc; Catherine Parker Chatham, a local girl who became a WASP; Ed Eyre, a US Marine who fought on Iwo Jima; Aggies Alton Meyer who survived five years as a POW, Neal Ward who went to Vietnam but never came home and Milady "Bunny" Blaha, a pioneering female naval aviator. These are just a few of the stories we share of our military heroes.
